Iran Records 21% Growth in Lead, Zinc Extraction

EghtesadOnline: Major lead and zinc producers extracted 938,503 tons of ore during the ten months to January 20 -- up 21% compared to last year’s similar period, the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization said in a report.

Angouran Lead and Zinc Complex, located in Zanjan Province, accounted for 881,724 tons and the Nakhlak Lead and Zinc Plant, located in Isfahan Province, produced 56,779 tons to register 18% and 71% year-on-year growth  respectively. 

The two companies extracted an aggregate 928,932 tons of ore in the last fiscal year (March 2017-18).

Lead and zinc extraction during the month to Jan. 20 reached 54,025 tons, down 15% compared with the same month last year. Angouran's output was 47,365 tons, down 20% YOY. Nakhlak extracted 6,660 tons, up 34% YOY, according to Financial Tribune.
